## Park Rules

All game drives inside Wilpattu National Park run strictly during normal park opening hours, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Driving or remaining inside the park outside these hours is prohibited under the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance. Any after-dark wildlife viewing we arrange takes place outside the national park, in the surrounding buffer zone and neighbouring village.

## Sleep Inside the Park

Stay in a park-owned DWC bungalow inside Wilpattu National Park. Basic eco-accommodation, in high demand — limited solar power (roughly 6PM–10PM), cold water, mosquito nets, attached bathroom, no AC, and no reliable Wi-Fi. Meals are prepared on-site. Staying inside means no gate queue and no commute: you are on the tracks at 6:00 AM when the park opens. 8 bungalows: Manikwila, Lunuwewa, Thalawila, Panikkawila, Manawila, Mahaweva, Maradammaduwa Dormitory, Kokmote.

Note: DWC bungalows cannot be resold commercially. We act solely as a booking facilitator — our fee covers guiding, transport, permits, and logistics, not the resale of the accommodation.

## Sleep Outside the Park

Local hotels and homestays on the park boundary. Village life, modern amenities, easy gate access. Day drives plus an optional after-dark drive in the buffer zone and neighbouring village.

## Best Time to Visit

February to October (dry season). Wildlife concentrates around villu lakes. During the northeast monsoon (November-January), some interior tracks can become inaccessible; confirm current access with the Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC). Leopard sightings possible year-round.

## Wildlife

Wilpattu has one of the highest leopard densities in Asia. Also home to elephants, sloth bears, endemic birds, and diverse reptile species. Over 200 bird species recorded.
