Our Story
Wilpattu Tours was born from a simple observation: most visitors to Sri Lanka head to Yala. The experienced wildlife photographers and serious naturalists know that Wilpattu offers something Yala cannot. Fewer vehicles. Denser vegetation. And the highest density of Sri Lankan leopards per square kilometre in the country.
We have spent over 20 years studying the behaviour patterns, territories, and breeding cycles of Wilpattu's leopard population. Our trackers have mapped every major villu, identified the park's key wildlife corridors, and built relationships with the forest department that span decades.
This is not a mass-market safari operator. Every expedition is designed for a maximum of four photographers per vehicle, timed to golden hour, and led by someone who has walked these paths for years. We handle the logistics so you can focus on the image.

We operate under strict low-impact guidelines. Our vehicles follow designated tracks, we never approach wildlife closer than recommended, and a portion of every booking supports Wilpattu's conservation programmes.
We do not sell entry permits. We sell expertise. Our trackers can read pugmarks, identify individual leopards, and predict movement patterns. That knowledge is the product.
Four photographers per vehicle, not twelve. Dawn drives timed to golden hour, not departure schedules. Every detail is designed for the quality of the experience, not the quantity of bookings.
