About Wilpattu Tours
We started because nobody was doing Wilpattu properly.
Most safari operators in Sri Lanka run the same playbook: pack a jeep with twelve people, drive to Yala, hope for a leopard sighting. We thought that was a waste of everyone's time.
Wilpattu has the highest density of Sri Lankan leopards per square kilometre in the country. Fewer vehicles. Denser vegetation. And a park system — the villus — that you will not find anywhere else on the island. But it takes knowledge to navigate. Not just a map.
We have spent over 20 years learning the behaviour patterns, territories, and breeding cycles of Wilpattu's leopard population. Our trackers have mapped every major villu, identified the park's key wildlife corridors, and built relationships with the forest department that span decades. That is the product. Not the jeep. Not the hotel. The knowledge.

How we work
Low impact, always
We follow designated tracks, keep distance from wildlife, and never pressure animals for a photo. A portion of every booking funds Wilpattu's conservation programmes.
Knowledge is the product
We do not sell entry permits. Our trackers read pugmarks, identify individual leopards, and predict movement patterns. That is what you are paying for — not the jeep, not the hotel.
Four, not twelve
Maximum four photographers per vehicle. Early drives timed to the golden hour, not departure schedules. Every detail serves the quality of the sighting, not the volume of bookings.
