Terms of Service

1. Booking & Payment

Online booking is available: pay your 30% deposit online and the remaining balance is due on the day of your tour. We also accept bank transfer and cash (USD or LKR). Prices are quoted in US Dollars (USD). Bookings are not confirmed until the deposit has been received.

2. Cancellation & Refunds

• Outside-park & day safaris: cancellations 5 days or more before departure receive a full refund, less any non-recoverable third-party fees already paid. Cancellations less than 5 days before departure, or no-shows, are non-refundable.
• Inside-park bungalow stays: cancellations 9 weeks or more before departure receive a full refund, less non-recoverable DWC permit and booking fees. Cancellations less than 9 weeks but at least 5 days before receive 50% of the total tour cost. Cancellations less than 5 days before, or no-shows, are non-refundable.

Date changes on outside-park tours are free when requested more than 30 days before departure; within 30 days a $50per person fee applies, subject to availability. Date changes on inside-park bungalow stays are not available as standard and, if accommodated, require a new booking and a new 30% deposit. Full details are in our Refund Policy.

3. Changes & Rescheduling

Date changes on outside-park tours are free when requested more than 30 days before departure; changes within 30 days may incur a $50 per person fee. Inside-park bungalow stays cannot normally be rescheduled, as DWC permits must be re-issued; where a change is possible it requires a new 30% deposit. We reserve the right to modify itineraries due to weather, park closures, or safety concerns.

4. What's Included

Inside-park tours are all-inclusive: DWC bungalow inside the park — arranged as part of your tour, not resold, All game drives in the itinerary, Park entrance and safari tour fees, Naturalist, guide and driver fees, Private 4x4 safari jeep and fuel, All meals — breakfast, lunch and dinner, Drinking water, tea and coffee, Groceries and provisions for your stay, Snacks and fresh fruit, Bedding, mosquito nets and bungalow care, Solar power and bungalow upkeep, DWC-appointed ranger on every drive, Binoculars and on-drive comforts, Permits, bungalow allocation and all logistics handled. We do not resell the DWC bungalow or any single component of the trip — we build one complete guided tour around it. Outside-park tours include Local hotel or homestay accommodation, All game drives in itinerary, Park entrance fees, Experienced English-speaking naturalist, Private 4x4 safari jeep, Bottled water during drives. Tour inclusions are as described on each tour page, and items not listed as included are excluded.

5. Travel & Insurance

Travel insurance is strongly recommended and is the guest's responsibility. We are not liable for costs arising from flight cancellations, personal illness, injury, or loss of personal belongings.

6. Wildlife & Safety

Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. Wilpattu is a wild national park and animal encounters are unpredictable. Our guides follow DWC safety protocols. Guests must follow all instructions from the naturalist and ranger. We are not responsible for injuries resulting from failure to follow safety guidelines.

7. Guest Conduct

Guests are expected to respect the park environment, wildlife, and local communities. Littering, feeding animals, leaving designated tracks, and excessive noise are prohibited. We reserve the right to end a tour without refund if guest conduct endangers wildlife, other guests, or park property.

8. Limitation of Liability

Wilpattu Tours acts as a tour operator and booking facilitator. Inside-park bungalows are owned and managed by the Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC); we assist with permit allocation and logistics. We do not resell the DWC bungalow or any single component of the trip — we build one complete guided tour around it. We are not liable for delays, cancellations, or changes caused by force majeure, weather, park authority decisions, or circumstances beyond our control. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the tour.

9. Park Rules & Wildlife Law

All game drives inside Wilpattu National Park operate strictly during the park's normal opening hours, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Driving or remaining inside the park outside these hours is prohibited under the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance. Any night-time wildlife viewing we arrange takes place outside the national park, in the surrounding buffer zone and neighbouring village. Guests must comply with all DWC rules and the instructions of their guide and ranger.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka. Any dispute will first be addressed through good-faith negotiation before either party pursues legal proceedings.
